An Open Letter To My Followers

Dear Community,

An Open Letter to my followers:

It’s hard to believe that my family is on day 6 of self-quarantining; some of you have been at it longer and some shorter but it’s safe (at least we are trying to be safe!) to say we are now all in isolation.

Parents, we are ripping our hair out trying to figure out how to entertain our children whilst confined within the four walls of our homes.

Non-parents, you may be dying of boredom (oh please I would love to die of boredom!  I wish you could share your boredom with me!).

Every day when I wake up I feel like I need to make another tick mark on my cave prison – er… I mean bedroom wall – to count to passing (Groundhog) days.  “I can’t believe it’s already been 61 days of this!” I said this morning and then looked over at my cave drawing to find it’s barely been 6 days.  <I silently whisper “hasta la vista” to another chunk of hair as I tear it out due to this grisly realization.>  Then one of my three children screams at me for the 86th time to watch them do something extraordinary (like turning around in a circle) and I glance at my clock: it’s 6:37am.

Yeah, yeah there’s silver linings, we get it.  We have to talk A LOT about these silver linings in order to convince ourselves that this DOESN’T SUCK.

But IT SUCKS.

Small businesses are suffering from the economic fallout from COVID-19 and this is scary as hell.  Restaurants, boutiques, day-cares, etc etc etc.  Small businesses are what make us who we are: they capture the local culture and give hospitality no big-box store could ever recreate.  It’s overwhelmingly devastating to think we might not see many of our favorite small businesses come out on the other side of this.

So, my fellow followers, what can you do?  (Aside from liking my posts, writing in my comment sections and watching all my ads  – I’m serious, this helps these small businesses I’m trying to hightlight.) But you can – and SHOULD – get carryout from your local restaurant and offer to drop it at your neighbor’s doorstep as well, shop all the online sales at your favorite boutique, and when you get your stimulous check from the government SPEND IT with a small business PLEASE.

I plan to be your lifestyle resource for you during this time of uncertainty.  I want to bring you the best products to help you cope during your time of isolation, I want to give you ideas and tips for creative activities, I want to share some of the best ways to make family meals with what’s already in your pantry, etc.  I vow to be gratuitous in sharing everything that’s working for me and showing you all the best products for fun, sanity, and safety.  And I vow to only advertise items that I love and know will make your life better in some way (on a side note, I have had advertisers pull campaigns from my social media platform – I am being personally affected by this crisis as well.)

I ask that you write to me and comment giving me suggestions and helping me make my pages work for you.  What do you want more of?  What do you need?  Help me help you bring all of the best lifestyle resources to one spot.

I am going to make a point to highlight some of my favorite small businesses on my social media during this pandemic with the hope I can shed a little light on the loveliness of what makes us a great country connected in a common mission to save the health (and businesses) of our neighbors.

With My Sincerest Love,

Meghan King Edmonds

  1. Meghan,
First off, thank you for your positivity and honesty during this time of the unknown. It would be very beneficial for those of us in the very northern climates (where it’s still snowing and 30 degrees) to have new ideas to keep motivated and uplifted. Not being able to spend much time outside can really make this time feel even more isolating. Any “outside of the box” ideas would be helpful to many!!!
    Thank you!

  2. Hi Megan, you know what posts of yours I miss…the ones of you going in to get Aspen from her crib , those were precious.
Do you do the same with the boys? Would love to see wake up videos.

  3. One small business I love but not sure if you are a part of is KHall Studio Inc. I adore their lotions. Please highlight them or any other St. Louis stores. I’m from across the river in Alton IL. Also just conversations with Aspen. I love your relationship with her.

  4. That was very well written and I hope people will follow your lead and use small businesses.
I’m going to take your advice and see what we can come up with. This is so hard and I consider myself a homebody at heart.

  5. I love you lol.. you are cracking me up. I can’t imagine what you’re going through with the little ones. But… this to shall pass. When?? Hmmm no clue. Stay strong Meghan. You got this. You and the munchkins stay healthy.
